The Purges

Five years ago, Alanna and the Council took action against those Houses that refused to submit to them. This night was later termed the Purges, named for the massacre of House Tamra and decimation of House Bartomn. When the sun rose, the Kithrayn of House Bartomn and his family were dead - as was Jessamyn Donnelly, acting Kithraya of House Tamra (in outright defiance of Alanna), her family, and every Tamrani in the city, and everyone who sheltered them, killed by the Council's Hounds. Losses were heaviest in the south and east of the city - the Kirayth held the line across the Carnival District and the border between Ziroth and Tarak.

This was the Council's first overt act of cruelty. It was not the last.
